Larimer County Juvenile Arrested After Crime Spree, Car Chase
Police in Fort Collins say they have arrested a juvenile on charges of kidnapping, aggravated robbery and several other allegations following a crime spree that included a car chase and crash as well as a foot pursuit.
That's according to a post on the Fort Collins Police Services Facebook page. According to the post, the spree started on March 20 when a victim told police that he had been sitting in his car at a Loveland Burger King when a younger male approached the vehicle, a white 2009 Ford Fusion, and demanded that he get out of his car. The juvenile lifted his shirt to display a handgun. The car owner got out of the vehicle and the suspect got in and drove away,
On March 22 in Fort Collins an younger male robbed a gas station in the 3000 block of South College while brandishing a handgun. Surveillance footage showed the suspect drove away in the stolen Ford Fusion.
On March 23, the suspect allegedly went into a Kum and Go on Knobcone Drive in Loveland and displayed a gun while demanding money and cigarettes. The clerk handed over cigarettes and the cash from the register. The robber left the store in a white sedan. Investigators were able to determine the car was the stolen Ford Fusion. Police found the car near 71st Street and North Garfield and tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver took off northbound into Fort Collins.
Fort Collins police spotted the car and tried to stop it, but the driver sped away, leading to a car chase. The post says the car crashed into a sign near the intersection of Mulberry Street and Riverside Avenue. The driver then fled on foot as another occupant of the car got outside the vehicle and stayed near it. Police ran down the suspect. When they spoke to the occupant, a juvenile female, she told officers that she had been walking the night before when the juvenile male pointed a gun at her and told her to get in the car.
According to the post, the juvenile was arrested on the following charges:
Menacing – Intimidation from Robbery (Felony 5), Aggravated Robbery – Gun (Felony 3), Strongarm Robbery (Felony 4), 2nd Degree Kidnapping – threat of weapon (Felony 3), Vehicular Eluding (Felony 5), Resisting Arrest (Misdemeanor 2), Menacing – intimidation (Misdemeanor 1), Theft (Petty Offense).
