The National Weather Service office in Cheyenne is warning about the possibility of severe thunderstorms, hail, and possibly even tornadoes for Wednesday afternoon.

The weather service issued this statement early Wednesday morning:

''A slight risk of severe storms is still expected for today, more probably east of Interstate 25 between Cheyenne and Sidney, and to the northwest of the Douglas areas into central Wyoming. Please stay aware late this afternoon into the evening hours as severe storms develop. Main hazards will be large hail to the size of golf balls and wind gusts over 60 mph. A few tornadoes are also possible. Storms will form just west of Interstate 25 in the mid to late afternoon hours, and will move northeast over the plains through this evening. Activity will decrease by late this evening."
