Laramie County Emergency Management says that while a tornado warning was issued on Friday with a severe storm which rocked the area, there is no report of a twister actually touching down.

Beth Harris of Emergency Management gave Townsquare Media this statement:

''We do not have any estimates on damage.  There were several reports of damaged vehicles, some damage to buildings, and vegetation.  We encourage everyone to work through their insurance companies for any damage from the storm.  There was no tornado during the storm.  The warning was issued based on conditions indicated via radar which showed rotation and reports of large hail.''

Be Careful About Who You Hire For Repairs

Meanwhile, the City of Cheyenne is warning people against using contractors who have not been  licensed. In the words of a release from the city: Property owners should only hire contractors who are licensed by the City to perform the work in question. Licensed contractors have appeared before, and been approved by, the City’s Contractor Licensing Board

Property owners can ask to see proof of a permit from the contractor, or they can contact the City’s Building Division to confirm the status of a permit at 307-637-6265

A list of licensed roofing and siding contractors is available at www.cheyennecity.org/roofingcontractors.

The city is also reminding people that permits are needed for some projects:

  • New buildings
  • Additions (Bedrooms, bathrooms, family rooms, etc.)
  • Residential work (decks, garages, fireplaces, pools, water heaters, etc.)
  • Renovations (garage conversions, basement furnishings, kitchen expansions, roofing, siding, etc.)
  • Electrical systems
  • Plumbing systems
  • HVAC (heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning) systems
