Laramie County Sheriff Bashes Pot Legalization

Laramie County Sheriff Danny Glick says Colorado's decision to legalize marijuana has been bad for Wyoming.

The sheriff says "It has been negative, as far as I'm concerned and I think that's almost across the board."

Glick adds that his conversations with Colorado law enforcement show the state wasn't ready for legal weed, adding many residents of that state now regret the decision. He says state officials there made the situation worse by poorly handling legalization, saying they "didn't deal with it appropriately" adding  "there's too many questions unanswered."

The sheriff says Colorado's decision to legalize marijuana has forced Wyoming lawmakers to have to deal with the issue of gummi bears and other pot edibles that contain THC and are sold legally in that state.

The sheriff says trying to decide what amount of gummi bears and other edibles should be a felony under Wyoming law is very difficult and something the state legislature will have to sort out.

But he says it's important to keep in mind that two legs off of a gummi bear can have as much THC as a joint of high potency marijuana.

Colorado residents in 2012 voted to legalize marijuana for recreational use.
