Laramie County Commissioner Linda Heath says she is hearing a lot of complaints about traffic issues on rural county roads.

Heath says the reported issues mostly concern oil industry trucks allegedly not paying attention to traffic laws, driving too fast and generally not driving safely. Some of the incidents include reckless driving near school buses, according to the complaints she is hearing.

She says besides the energy industry trucks, residential traffic and other motorists are also posing problems. Heath says the Laramie County Sheriff's Office is understaffed to deal with the problem right now.

She says although the sheriff's department has been authorized to hire four more deputies, the process of hiring and training deputies, as well as the large area being covered, continue to make the situation challenging for law enforcement. Heath spoke with KGAB radio's Glenn Woods on Thursday about the situation.
