Kaysen Says City Considering Fence For ‘The Hole’
Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says the city is looking into putting a more decorative fence around the downtown Cheyenne property commonly referred to as ''the hole".
The East Lincolnway property has been widely regarded as an eyesore ever since a 2004 fire destroyed a business that haD been located there . The city owns 1/3 of the property and has been trying for some time to purchase the remaining 2/3 from a Kansas company, but has so far not been able to reach an agreement.
Kaysen says officials are now looking into putting up a more decorative fence in place of the sparse chain-link fence which currently encircles the property. One proposal calls for placing a fence with vinyl paneling in front of the property, at a possible cost of $12,000 to $15,000.
Kaysen says that while it's unlikely a new fence could be in place in time for Cheyenne Frontier Days 2013 next month, he is hopeful it might be erected by the end of this summer.
