Juveniles Intentionally Set Small Fort Collins Fires on Halloween
Two small fires briefly burned in a Fort Collins field near the intersections of S. Shields Street and W. Troutman Parkway on Halloween morning.
Poudre Fire Authority said the fires were reported in a grove of trees around 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 31. One fire was active and the other was smoldering when firefighter crews arrived.
Poudre Fire Authority said "investigators determined that the fires were intentionally set and that juveniles were involved."
Fortunately crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire but reminded the public how fast fires can spread in Colorado.
PFA has a Youth Firesetter Prevention and Intervention Program and encourages parents to talk with children who may start fires out of curiosity.
