Juvenile with Gun Prompts School Lockdowns in South Cheyenne
A juvenile with a gun prompted the lockdown of three schools in south Cheyenne early this (Thursday) evening.
Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Officer Kevin Malatesta says officers were called to a report of a suspicious person with a weapon in the area of South High School at 5 p.m.
"That person was walking away from the school," said Malatesta. "About 15 minutes later our officers were able to locate and detain him."
"The suspect was a juvenile male and he was armed with a replica pistol," he added. "He was subsequently arrested for aggravated assault."
Malatesta says nobody was injured during the incident, but due to an abundance of caution South High, Johnson Jr. High and Rossman Elementary were placed on lockdown until officers detained the juvenile.
