The Buffalo Bills will wrap up the 2023 preseason this Saturday afternoon. They travel to Chicago to play the Bears. Kickoff is at 1 pm.

The Bills had a good preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts, however many of the starters did not play, especially on offense. The Bills won that game.

Last weekend's preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers was not good, however, as the Bills lost 27-15. The Bills starters were not crisp and committed 12 penalties during the first half.

Typically, the Bills will rest their starters in the last preseason game, but that is not what will happen this season.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott told the media this morning that the starters will play this Saturday at the Bears. That would include Josh Allen.

Backup quarterback Matt Barkley was hurt in the preseason game against the Steelers. He won't practice on Thursday, which likely means he's not going to play on Saturday. This means Josh Allen will play on Saturday (remains to be seen how long), with Kyle Allen playing the rest of the way.

How much of this decision has to do with how things went against the Steelers? That could be a driving factor for playing the starters in the final preseason game, but the most important thing in preseason remains "don't get hurt."

Many Bills fans are not happy that Josh Allen and the starters will play against the Bears. It's because of the injury risk.

My guess is the starters play a series or two. I don't see McDermott playing the Bills starters through the first half or anything like that.
