Laramie County Commissioner M. Lee Hasenauer says he doesn't think a $300,000  federal grant to develop a sustainable management plan for Cheyenne Regional Airport should be accepted.

Hasenauer was the lone no vote when the county commission voted 4-1 Tuesday in favor of the grant, which goes before the Cheyenne City Council Monday night. Hasenauer says at a time when the federal government is cutting programs like Head Start and implementing sequestration cuts on a wide range of programs he doesn't think such grant programs should continue.

He says his other concern is that by accepting the grant the airport will be opening the door to over-regulation by federal agencies such as the EPA. The city council Finance Committee voted for the grant last week, but the full council will have the final word on the issue.
