Ground Blizzards Forecast For Interstate 80 This Weekend

The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service is warning about ground blizzards along portions of Interstate 80 this weekend.

The weather service has issued the following statement:

"Very strong winds will develop tonight and continue through Saturday night. Wind gusts of up to 70 mph can be expected. Extreme blow-over risk is anticipated for light & high profile vehicles (including campers & cargo trailers). These strong winds will combine with recent snowfall in the Arlington & Elk Mountain area to produce ground blizzard conditions, especially Saturday & Saturday night. Motorists are encouraged to adjust plans to avoid these anticipated poor travel conditions."
