Beloved Cheyenne Pizza Spot to Close After 40-Plus Years
A Cheyenne restaurant that has been a mainstay along Yellowstone Road for more than 40 years is closing its doors.
Godfather's Pizza Cheyenne in a news release on Thursday announced that its last day of business will be Saturday, Jan. 31.

"This is incredibly difficult for our family, but we want to end on a high note in honor of my dad, Bob Vreeland," said Tara Vreeland.
Opened on May 18, 1982, and first operated by Art Thiele before being taken over by Dawn Foster in 2001, Bob acquired the restaurant in February 2016.
His family says it had already discussed closing the pizza place as part of Bob's planned retirement before his unexpected illness and passing in October 2025.
"Given the circumstances and current business realities, moving forward with his plan is the most responsible path," the family said.
'Incredibly Proud'
"We want to say, without hesitation, how incredibly proud Bob would be of the team," the family said on the restaurant's Facebook page.
"Our employees have shown unwavering dedication, kindness, and strength especially during the most challenging time our family has ever faced. They have kept the doors open, the quality high, and the spirit of this place alive. We are deeply grateful for each and every one of them. As they begin looking for their next opportunities, we hope our community will keep these wonderful people in mind," the post reads.
As the restaurant approaches its final weeks, the Vreeland family invites those who are able and willing to consider showing additional appreciation to the staff in Bob’s honor, recognizing their dedication and care.
In addition, those wishing to honor Bob’s memory are encouraged to consider a donation to the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Foundation, a cause meaningful to the family.
"Thank you for the memories and the many years of support," the family said. "We are forever grateful to this community."
