Gillette Man Arrested For Repeatedly Striking Power Pole
It's not uncommon to find a vehicle off the road and nose into a telephone pole in the middle of winter. But when the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on State Highway 50 they found that the jeep had hit the pole more than once.
“He left the roadway and struck a fence and electrical pole, causing the pole to fall to the ground,” said Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds.
The black Jeep Cherokee had struck the pole, then struck it again. But why? Apparently he was tangled in the wires and having trouble getting free.
“The driver then exited the vehicle and left the scene of the accident on foot,” Reynolds continued. “He was located in a field near Grand View and Highway 50.”
Deputies said the man smelled of alcohol and was arrested for DUI.
Power was out to costumers for about two hours. The jeep had serious damage to both sides.
