Fort Collins Police Investigating Hit And Run Motorcycle Collision
Fort Collins Police are investigating a hit and run collision between two motorcycles which left at least one motorcyclist seriously injured.
That's according to a post on the Fort Collins Police Services Facebook page. According to the post, police were called to an injury crash a little before noon on April 7 in the 6200 Block of South College Avenue.
A male had been riding a Black Harley Davidson northbound when it collided on the side with a blue Yamaha sport bike that was also northbound. When the collision happened both bikes went down and slid for a considerable distance. Police say the rider of the Yamaha fled the scene on foot.
Because of the severity of the collision, the Fort Collins CRASH team took over the investigation. Officers began looking for the rider of the Yamaha, who may have been seriously injured. According to the release:
"We know that as the weather continues to get warmer that there will be more and more motorcycles on the road. We ask that motorcycle riders wear protective equipment available to them and follow the posted speed limits. Unfortunately, we have also seen a number of hit and run collisions already this year; it is imperative to stop and stay at the scene of a collision if you are involved in one," said Sergeant Mike Avrech who oversees the CRASH Team.
Anyone with information regarding this collision who hasn't already speak to police is asked to call Officer Matt Brede at (970) 221 6540.
