Wanted Cheyenne Man Caught With Meth in His Sock

A wanted Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after Laramie County Sheriff's deputies reportedly caught him with methamphetamine in his sock.

According to arrest records, 53-year-old Tony Lavelle Bowman was riding a bike in the 1400 block of South Greeley Highway around 9:07 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, when deputies spotted him.

Knowing Bowman had a warrant out of Laramie County, deputies handcuffed him and had dispatch confirm the warrant.

The warrant was for failure to appear on an original charge of misdemeanor theft and was signed by Circuit Court Judge Antoinette Williams on Dec. 26, 2023.

Warrant Arrest Leads to Felony Meth Charge

Deputies then asked Bowman if he had any drugs or weapons on him, to which he replied, "Yes."

When deputies searched Bowman, they reportedly found a knife in a cover on his right side and suspected methamphetamine in his sock.

Bowman was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center, where he reportedly admitted to having more suspected methamphetamine in his sock.

Bowman was booked on his warrant and subsequently charged with possession of methamphetamine - third or subsequent offense, a felony punishable by up to seven years in prison, a fine of up to $15,000, or both.

Bowman made his initial court appearance in both cases on Wednesday morning.

Bond was set at $1,000 cash in his theft case and $3,000 cash in his drug case, and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for March 29 at 9 a.m.
