A 42-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after allegedly strangling a household member.

According to a booking sheet, police were called to an address in Cheyenne at about 11:23 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27 for a family physical call.

Police say they spoke to both the victim and the suspect, William James Worley, about the incident and both said they were involved in a physical altercation at the address.

Police say Worley reportedly slapped the victim in the face and strangled him to the point where he felt he couldn't breathe.

Worley Charged With Domestic Battery, Strangulation

Worley was arrested and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center.

He was subsequently charged with misdemeanor domestic battery and strangulation of a household member - applying pressure on the throat or neck, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Worley Posts $500 Cash Bond

Worley made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Thursday, Aug. 29, during which his bond was set at $500 cash, which he later posted, and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Friday, Sept. 6 at 9:45 a.m.
