Domestic Violence Call Leads to Animal Cruelty Arrest in Cheyenne
Cheyenne Police say a domestic violence call over the weekend led to the arrest of a 36-year-old Cheyenne transient wanted for felony cruelty to animals.
According to a booking sheet, Michael Anthony Williams was arrested at 5:01 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, after police were dispatched to the 2500 block of East 9th Street for a reported domestic physical.
Felony Warrant
Police say they contacted Williams and the other subject, and when they ran Williams' name, they discovered he had a felony warrant out of Laramie County Circuit Court for felony cruelty to animals resulting in death, a crime punishable by up to two years in prison, up to a $5,000 fine, or both.
Williams was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center, where he was booked on his warrant.
Bond Set at $3K Cash or Surety
On Monday, March 10, Williams was seen in Circuit Court on the charge.
His bond was set at $3,000 cash or surety, and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Wednesday, March 19, at 2 p.m.
