Cash and Wallet Stolen From Business Vehicle

Police say the caller told them that cash and a wallet were stolen from a business vehicle parked on the street at the address on Monday, April 14, and that she believed a new employee, Benjamin Ray Halcott, may have taken the items because he had access to the vehicle and left abruptly during his shift.

Police say the caller showed them a picture of Halcott, which matched a recent booking photo of him, and told them that she picks him up for work at his home in the 2200 block of Gordon Road because he doesn't drive.

Extraditable Warrant

Police say when they ran Halcott's name, they discovered he had an extraditable warrant out of Larimer County, Colorado. They then went to his home to speak with him.

Police say when they arrived, the front door was wide open and they could hear a TV to the right of the door, and when they walked up to the door, they saw Halcott sitting on a couch just inside the door.

80 Fentanyl Pills

When police instructed Halcott to place his hands behind his back, Halcott reportedly started to comply, then reached into his right pocket and pulled out a plastic baggie containing approximately 80 small blue pills, which appeared to resemble fentanyl pills.

Police say the bag and pills weighed 9.31 grams.

Halcott was handcuffed and taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for jail clearance due to his recent fentanyl use, then taken to the Laramie County Detention Center, where he was booked on his warrant.

He was subsequently charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.

Bond Set at $10K Cash

On Friday, April 18, Halcott was seen in Laramie County Circuit Court on the charge.

His bond was set at $10,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Monday, April 28, at 10:30 a.m.

Please remember that all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
