Wanted Cheyenne Man Arrested, Released on Signature Bond Next Day

A 40-year-old Cheyenne man is out on bond after being picked up on a warrant for felony property destruction.

According to a booking sheet, Michael David Pena was arrested at 1:31 p.m. on Memorial Day, May 27, after a Laramie County Sheriff's corporal spotted him driving his gold Honda and, knowing he had a warrant, stopped him at 751 Ave. C.

'He Returned With a Felony Warrant'

"I ran Michael's information through dispatch and he returned with a felony warrant for property destruction," the corporal said in their probable cause remarks.

The warrant was signed by Laramie County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Lee on May 20, 2024.

Pena was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center on his warrant and seen in Circuit Court the following morning, May 28.

Pena was granted a $2,500 signature bond, allowing him to be released from jail without having to post bail on the condition he returns to court for his preliminary hearing, which was set for June 5 at 1:30 p.m., and comply with any other conditions set by the court.

If convicted, Pena could face up to 10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both.
