DUI Accident Leads to Felony Charge for Cheyenne Man
A 41-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after reportedly getting into an accident while driving drunk.
According to a booking sheet, Jeston Earnest Freeman was arrested at 4620 Grandview Ave. at 6:58 p.m. on Aug. 4, 2024.
A Lot of Alcohol
The arresting Laramie County Sheriff's deputy said when he contacted Freeman, who was involved in a motor vehicle accident, he could smell alcohol on Freeman's breath, and Freeman admitted to consuming a lot of alcohol before driving.
The deputy did standardized field sobriety tests and had six clues on horizontal gaze nystagmus, and said Freeman told him he didn't want to do any other tests because he was drunk.
Freeman was reportedly Mirandized at 7:24 p.m. and told the deputy he was supposed to drive a vehicle with an interlock device but didn't have one in the vehicle he was driving.
The deputy says Freeman also had a suspended driver's license from prior DUI convictions.
Freeman was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for a legal blood draw and medical clearance and then booked into the Laramie County Detention Center.
Cheyenne Man Charged With 4th DUI
Freeman was subsequently charged with his fourth DUI, a felony, and three misdemeanors, including driving without an interlock device, driving while license suspended, and failure to maintain liability coverage.
Freeman made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Aug. 6, 2024, during which his bond was set at $5,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Aug. 15, 2024, at 3 p.m.
