Cheyenne Man Charged With Strangling Brother-In-Law
A 27-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after allegedly strangling his brother-in-law.
According to a booking sheet, Leif Tylar Erickson was arrested at 6:08 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, after a Laramie County Sheriff's deputy was dispatched to a domestic disturbance.
Domestic Call Leads to Felony Charge for Cheyenne Man
The deputy says Erickson told him that he fought his brother-in-law after an altercation between his wife and her brother.
Erickson reportedly choked his brother-in-law from the front, making it difficult for him to breathe, then attempted to choke him again.
The deputy says Erickson's brother-in-law had red marks, scratches, and bruising on his neck and red marks and swelling around his eyes.
Erickson was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for jail clearance and subsequently charged with strangulation of a household member, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
He made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Friday afternoon, June 14, during which his bond was set at $1,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for June 21 at 9:45 a.m.
