Laramie County Deputy Nabs Wanted Nebraska Sex Offender
A Nebraska sex offender being sought out of Laramie County for failure to register and stalking is now behind bars.
According to a booking sheet, 24-year-old Gering resident Ashanti Jacur Kelley was taken into custody at the Maverik at 1706 S. Greeley Hwy. in Cheyenne at 3:21 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11.
Active Warrants
The arresting deputy says Kelley had two active warrants out of Laramie County Circuit Court, one for felony failure to register as a sex offender and the other for misdemeanor stalking.
Both warrants were signed by Judge Sean Chambers on June 10, 2024.
Kelley was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center on his warrants and was seen in Circuit Court on Wednesday morning, June 12.
His total bond was set at $3,000 cash ($2,000 in his felony case and $1,000 in his misdemeanor case) and his preliminary hearing and arraignment were scheduled for June 21 at 9 a.m.
According to the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry, Kelley was convicted of first-degree sexual assault, attempted sexual assault use of electronic device, and four counts of possession of visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct on Oct. 23, 2019, in Scotts Bluff County District Court.
The six crimes reportedly involved a 12-year-old girl.
