Wyoming Highway Patrol Urges ‘Move Over, Slow Down’ After Lieutenant Struck on I-80
The Wyoming Highway Patrol is urging drivers to move over and slow down for emergency vehicles following a Saturday evening crash involving one of their lieutenants.
According to an agency Facebook post, a lieutenant working in Troop P (Carbon County) was struck by a vehicle while working an unrelated crash on Interstate 80.

Lieutenant 'Doing Well' After Crash
"The lieutenant was inside of his vehicle at the time of the crash and became trapped," the post reads. "He was transported and released from the hospital. He is doing well and ready to get back to work!"
The Patrol says it can't put enough emphasis on the state's move-over law.
Wyoming Statute 31-5-224 states that when driving on an interstate, drivers shall merge into the lane farthest from the emergency vehicle.
It also states that when driving on a two-lane road with a posted speed limit of 45 mph or greater, drivers shall slow to a speed that is 20 miles per hour less than the posted speed limit.
