The Laramie County Coroner's Office is asking for the public's help in solving a decades-old John Doe case.

According to Coroner Rebecca Reid, the John Doe was found dead in a motel at 1719 Central Ave. in Cheyenne, presently The Downtowner Studios, on April 11, 1977.

Overdose Death

"No foul play was involved," Reid told KGAB Radio.

According to a newspaper article Reid shared with KGAB Radio, Roger Radomsky, the coroner at the time, said the man was the victim of a lethal dose of barbiturate and listed Niagara Falls, New York as his home when he registered at the motel.

Radomsky said it appeared the man, who he estimated to be about 55 years old, had been dead for about two days when he was found by a maid.

Identity Still Unknown

"DNA testing is in process, but his identity is still unknown," Reid in a press release Monday evening said.

Reid says he's been entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs), a national centralized repository and resource center for missing, unidentified, and unclaimed person cases across the country.

Forensic Image Released

The press release also contained the image above, a forensic artist's approximation of what the man may have looked like.

Reid says the man was Caucasian, was approximately 40 to 55 years old, was approximately 6-foot, weighed approximately 180 pounds, and had dark hair. It's unknown what color his eyes were or if he had any scars or tattoos.

She's asking anyone who may be able to identify the decedent or who has any information to call her at 307-637-8000.
