Laramie County Commissioner M. Lee Hasenauer says he will author a proposal to cut elected county officials' salaries, including his own if he is elected to another term

Hasenauer says commissioners currently are paid $40,000 a year. Hr originally ran for office in 2012 with the idea of cutting salaries, but found out after being elected that state law would not allow such a motion before 2014. Hasenauer says he has not yet decided how much of a salary cut he will propose, or exactly when he will put the idea forward.

A proposal to cut the salaries of the Sheriff, County Coroner and other elected officials who are not members of the commission, would likely be a separate proposal from whatever cuts he requests for county commissioners.

Hasenauer's seat is on the election ballot this year, but he hasn't said whether he plans to run for re-election.
