Republican Laramie County Commission candidate Mark Woods says there are too many county regulations that seem designed "to protect us from ourselves".

Woods says there will always be shady and incompetent businesses, but adds that the market will eventually force those people out of business, especially in a community the size of Cheyenne "where word gets around quickly".

Woods says if he's elected he will push for a review of county regulations and the permitting process to see how they can be made more user friendly. He says another frustration is a recent decision to assign the duties of county Development Director to the person who is already serving as Building Inspector.

Woods calls that decision "inexcusable" because having one person do both jobs is causing needless delays in the permitting process.

He says many of his frustrations grow out of his own experiences as a local home builder for the past 15 years.
