UPDATE 5 p.m. Friday. City of Cheyenne spokesman Scott Smith has issued a release saying 19th Street is now open to traffic. The opening completes Phase 1 of the project between Morrie Avenue and Warren Avenue. Work on Phase II of the project. from Crow creek to Pioneer Avenue, is currently out for bid. Work on that phase is slated for 2016.

Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says work on the city's two major street projects will be winding down over the next few weeks.

The mayor says work on the current segment of the 19th Street Project, between Evans and Warren Avenues, will come to a halt sometime next week. Kaysen says the street will totally re-open to normal traffic then.

He says the city will be taking bids over the winter for the next phase of the Project, from Pioneer to Dey Avenue. That work will then get underway next year..

The mayor says work on the city's other major ongoing project, the Logan Avenue Project from 20th to Pershing, will wrap up in a couple of weeks or so.

Kaysen says the last phase of that project, from 19th Street to 20th, should be finished by the end of November, weather permitting.
