Kaysen Won’t Seek Re-Election [VIDEO]
Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen announced this afternoon that he won't be seeking a third term in office.
"I assure you that this decision has not come easy," said Kaysen. "I love what I'm doing and serving as the mayor of this great community."
Kaysen, who was first elected in 2008, says he's stepping down to spend more time with his family.
"I do not intend to take retirement," said Kaysen. "I will do something, but I'm not sure what it's going to be."
Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority Executive Director Amy Surdam, who announced her candidacy last month, is the only person to have thrown her hat in the mayoral ring so far.
