Cheyenne South will host unbeaten Cheyenne East in an intra-city class 4A football battle this evening.

Meanwhile, Cheyenne Central will try to break into the win column at home against Campbell County High School.

On the face of it, the T-Birds would look like the favorites to pick up a win at South (0-3) this evening. Third-ranked East (3-0) is coming off a win against previously unbeaten Thunder Basin, while a turnover-plagued Bison squad fell to Casper Kelly Walsh by a score of 41-6 a week ago.

But the Bison defeated East 31-28 a year ago, and rivalry games matching teams with very different records often end in upsets. Rainy weather could also be a gremlin this evening, and wet footballs take some funny bounces. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. at Bison Stadium.

In other local action, Cheyenne Central (0-3) is hoping for a home win against the Campbell County Camels (0-3). The Indians will be out to avenge a 47-14 road loss in 2016 with a home win against the defensively-challenged Camels. Campbell County comes into the game dead last in scoring defense in Class 4A

Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. at Milt Riske Field in Cheyenne.
