The Cheyenne Police Department is reminding motorists that the new downtown policy takes effect on Monday, March 12.

Under the new policy, warning for parking violations will no longer be issued and parking tickets will be handled by the Cheyenne Municipal Court. For on-street parking, motorists must strictly adhere to the posted signs.

That means anyone parked in an area designated by signs as two-hour parking will be immediately liable for a parking ticket if their vehicle is parked longer than two hours, and again, no warnings will be issued as of Monday.

The two-hour parking limit is enforced Monday-Friday from 8-5. Those who want to use the City of Cheyenne structures will need to purchase either a daily or monthly parking permit. The daily permits cost $4, the monthly permits $45.

They can be purchased at the Cheyenne Police Department. For city residents who live in ''Critical Zones," on-street parking permits will now be free.

The city has removed two-hour parking signs in some areas where it was decided the time limits were no longer needed.
