UPDATE: Cheyenne Police have now cleared the area of a crash on West Pershing. The agency released the following details on Facebook:

This morning, September 5, a Cheyenne Police Officer was involved in a crash near the intersection of Snyder Avenue and West Pershing Boulevard. No serious injuries have been reported.
The officer was attempting to stop a vehicle that was speeding along Central Avenue. The suspect driver refused to yield and accelerated to a high rate of speed. The officer followed and was subsequently involved in a crash with another driver.
The investigation has been turned over to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
The area has been re-opened and the roadway is cleared.

Cheyenne Police are urging motorists to steer clear of part of West Pershing Boulevard this morning due to a crash.

The agency posted the following on its website:

''The Cheyenne Police Department is requesting motorists to use alternate routes to avoid W Pershing Blvd between Dillon Ave and Snyder Ave. This is an active crash scene and investigation that will have this area shut down for an extended period of time. We will update the public when this area is re-opened.''
