Cheyenne Police Arrest Suspect After High Speed Chase, Shots Fired
A 45-year-old Cheyenne man is behind bars after allegedly firing shots and leading police on a chase on Friday night that included a crash at an intersection.
That's according to a post on the Cheyenne Police Department Facebook page.
Report Of Shots Fired Leads To High-Speed Chase
According to the post, police got a call round 9:35p.m. about shots being fired at a home near the 1600 Block of West Jefferson Road. According to statements to police, a male victim was sitting in his truck when someone later identified as 45-year-old Demetrius Colletti of Cheyenne drove by and shot at him. The intended victim was not hit, but the truck was damaged by gunfire.
Cheyenne Police worked to clear the scene and spoke with witnesses, finding out that Colletti was driving a a light-colored Chevy Tahoe. That information was put out via radio, and a Laramie County Sheriff's deputy spotted the vehicle near the intersection of College Drive and Walterscheid Boulevard. Colletti sped away when the deputy tried to stop him. Officers and deputies took after him as Colletti drove at high speeds, recklessly running running a red light and crashing into a car at the intersection of West Lincolnway and Central Avenue.
Fortunately, the occupants of the vehicle reported no serious injuries.
Bur Colletti continued at high speeds down Lincolnway. The chase finally ended when a wheel came off of Colletti's car west of town.
Accoding to the post, police arrested Coletti and he was booked into the Laramie County Jail for attempted 1st degree murder, fleeing and eluding, and duty to stop.
