The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service is warning of some possible strong to severe thunderstorms over the next few days.

Some of the storms could feature large hail, strong winds, and prolonged heavy rainfall, possibly leading to flash flooding. The best chances for severe weather are today [Friday] and again on Sunday.

the agency posted this statement on its website this morning:

"Thunderstorms likely to develop this weekend mainly during the afternoon and evening hours. Coverage of storms should remain on the isolated to scattered side as strongest storms will be expected for today and Sunday primarily along and east of the Laramie Range with large hail and gusty winds as main threats. Flooding could also be a concern Sunday as forecasted storm motions will be lacking for prolonged rainfall and hail swelling area streams and creeks. Stay weather aware and make sure you have a way to get the most up to date forecast and warning information."
