
Cheyenne Police Announce Neighborhood Night Out For July 9
The Cheyenne Police Department has announced this year's 'Neighborhood Night Out'' will be held on July 9.
A CPD news release calls the night out "a community-building event designed to bring neighbors, businesses, and police together in partnership against crime in Cheyenne."
Coming up in May, a Block Captain planning meeting will be held on May 28 at the Public Safety Building at 415 W. 18th Street in Cheyenne. Anyone who is interested in hosting a block party is being encouraged to attend.
Meeting For Block Captains Coming Up Soon
According to the release, the Block Captain meeting will be informational and will discuss ideas for planning block parties. In the words of the release. "Each year, neighborhood “Block Captains” organize block parties featuring cookouts, live music, and entertainment provided by neighborhood residents with the help of sponsoring Cheyenne businesses, churches, and specialty groups."
The Neighborhood Night Out is a longstanding Cheyenne tradition, with this year being the 17th year in Wyoming's Capitol City. In 2025 fifteen block parties were held in conjunction with the event.
"Cheyenne Neighborhood Night is a fun evening for all,” said Chief Mark Francisco. “Our agency believes in community policing, and this is an opportunity to come together and build relationships that make our city stronger."
According to the release, the chief goes on to say “Many times, our community members only meet law enforcement when a crime occurs, but during this event, we are able to talk with residents, hear their public safety questions, and build relationships under positive circumstances,” said Francisco.
