The Cheyenne office of the National Weather Service has issued a statement on the fire danger for southeast Wyoming through Thursday

  • Red Flag Warnings have been issued for the higher terrain of the Laramie, Snowy and Sierra Madre Mountain Ranges from 11am to 8pm for Wednesday and Thursday.
    • Vegetation remains dry in the higher terrain as only 0.25 to 0.75 inches of rainfall have fallen over the past several weeks.
  • Overall confidence is high on critical humidity and wind thresholds being met for the areas under the Red Flag Warnings each afternoon from 11am to 8pm.
  • Thursday appears to be the worst day from a fire weather standpoint as it will be the windiest and driest day as temperatures soar.
  • Cooler and wetter conditions will move in Friday from west to east as a front moves through the region.
