The Cheyenne National Weather Service office has released the following weather statement for southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle for Thursday, May 17:

"There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening in the yellow shaded area, with a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms in the darker green shaded area. Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will develop this afternoon, and a few of the storms this afternoon and evening may become severe, producing quarter size hail or larger, or wind gusts in excess of 60 mph. Hail could be as large as baseball size. The greatest risk of severe thunderstorms will be over the Nebraska Panhandle."
