Cheyenne Woman’s Drug Struggles Lead to New Felony Charges
A 44-year-old Cheyenne woman is facing felony charges after reportedly, once again, getting caught with drugs.
According to a booking sheet, police arrested Margaret Theresa Harris at East 5th Street and Morrie Avenue at 1:28 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8.
Harris was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center and subsequently charged with possession of a controlled substance - third or subsequent enhancement.
It's alleged that Harris possessed methamphetamine and was previously convicted of the same or similar charge on Jan. 18, 2014; July 11, 2016; and Oct. 2, 2024, making it a felony punishable by up to five years in prison, up to a $5,000 fine, or both.
Harris was also charged with taking a controlled substance into jail, a felony punishable by up to three years in prison, up to a $3,000 fine, or both.
Initial Court Appearance
On Wednesday, Nov. 12, Harris was seen in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge Antoinette Williams on the charges.
Williams appointed Harris a public defender and set her preliminary hearing for Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 2:15 p.m.

Williams then asked for the state's position regarding bond.
"The state would be requesting $7,500 cash," the state said. "I would note for the court that Ms. Harris is being sentenced in the felony possession on Dec. 8. Obviously, the state has concerns that she'll be able to comply with any bond conditions as well as currently being on bond for another drug charge."
Bond Set at $7,500 Cash
"Your bond is $7,500," Williams told Harris. "If you post that, I'll set bond conditions."
Please remember that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
