Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen is asking anyone who sees a pothole on city streets to notify the city immediately so crews can fix the problem.

The mayor says public information is the primary way city officials can find out where the hazards are located because city employees don't drive around looking for them.

Kaysen says city residents are "the best eyes that we have," for spotting potholes, although he says he will call in a pothole report himself if he happens to see one of the holes.

The mayor says one way to report potholes is on the city of Cheyenne website, under the ''report a concern" category.

He says when people do that a work order is automatically sent out to city work crews to fix the problem. The mayor also says the city will soon switch to a "cold mix" substance for repairing the holes.

The cold mix, used during the winter months, is a temporary fix as opposed to the 'hot mix" used during warmer weather.

Because of that he says it's possible the same potholes may need to be repaired more than once over the next few months.

Potholes are widely considered a major hazard on Cheyenne streets, and Kaysen says Cheyenne has ''a tough climate" in terms of dealing with the problem.
