A 36-year-old Cheyenne man is behind bars after reportedly getting into a physical altercation with his fiancée at their home early Wednesday morning.

According to a booking sheet, Jeffrey Dale Harrison was angry with his fiancée and was verbally arguing with her when the argument turned physical and he grabbed her head and squeezed it as if attempting to smother her.

The woman reportedly told a Laramie County Sheriff's deputy that Harrison was squeezing for approximately a minute and let go after being scratched and hit.

"She was able to get away from him when he let go and went to work," the booking sheet reads.

The woman also reportedly told the deputy that Harrison had strangled her twice in the past two weeks to the point she passed out and woke up on the floor, but she was scared to call law enforcement because she was worried he would hurt her worse.

Harrison was subsequently arrested and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center on a single count of domestic battery and two counts of strangulation of a household member - minor injury.

As of 4:15 p.m., Thursday, he had yet to be formally charged.

AUGUST 4 MORNING UPDATE:

According to a booking sheet, Harrison was issued a protection order following his arrest Wednesday.

On Thursday, he reportedly called the unnamed respondent three times from the jail -- at 10:06 a.m., 10:48 a.m., and 11:37 a.m. -- and left a voicemail saying, "Hey, it's me."

The Laramie County District Attorney's Office late Thursday afternoon charged Harrison with two counts of strangulation and one count of domestic battery - second offense within five years.

He's scheduled to appear in Laramie County Circuit Court this afternoon, Aug. 4, at 1:30 p.m.
