Cheyenne BOPU: Solicitations Are Not Water Bills
The Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities [BOPU] wants people to know that notices from American Water Resources of Wyoming are not utility bills, but rather an attempt to sell insurance policies.
BOPU spokeswoman Dena Egenhoff says the BOPU is not affiliated with American Water Resources and does not endorse that company. The notices are an effort to sell insurance to cover the customer's portion of water and/or sewer lines.
In Cheyenne, the landowner is responsible for the service line between the building and the main. Repairs to those service lines are the customer's responsibility, according to Egenhoff.
She says customers who are thinking about buying the insurance should read the policy carefully, talk to plumbers to find out how much it would cost to repair a service line, and think about how likely it is that they will need to make service line repairs.
