Cheyenne BOPU Plans Infrastructure Projects
The Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities is planning over $9 million in infrastructure projects in Fiscal Year 2018, Which starts on July 1, 2017.
That total includes $4.88 million in water main rehabilitation projects and another $4.16 million for sewer collection main projects.
A total of 5.2 miles of rehab projects are planned at a cost of $1.7 million per mile.
Spokeswoman Dena Egenhoff says because water and sewer mains are buried underground, people tend not to think about them until there is a problem.
She says another problem is that it would take 100 years to replace all of Cheyenne's water and sewer mains, yet a new pipe typically only last 5-80 years.
