Bicycle-School Bus Crash Under Investigation In Fort Collins
Police in Fort Collins are investigating a crash in Fort Collins that left a 26-year-old woman with moderate injuries, according to release from police.
They say the collision happened around 8;45 a.m. in the 3000 block of Meadowlark Avenue on the roadway near Beattie Elementary School.
Police say Anna Price was riding her bicycle in the bike lane northbound on Meadowlark Avenue. A Poudre School District bus driven by 71-year-old Marlon Poole was also northbound on Meadowlark and was turning right into the school parking lot. Price's bicycle collided with the right rear passenger side of the bus, which sent Price to the hospital with what police say were ''moderate injuries."
Students were on board the bus at the time but were not injured, according to the release. School administrators and counselors provided support for those who may have seen the crash.
“Our officers are working to determine exactly what happened," said FCPS Chief Jeff Swoboda. "In the meantime, we strongly encourage everyone traveling near school zones to always remain alert and create a safe environment for all.”
