First Round Wyoming Class 4A football playoff action will include a pair of Cheyenne teams.

Cheyenne East at 7-2 will host 3-6 Casper Kelly Walsh on Friday night, October 31.

East ended the season tied with Campbell County (Gillette) AT 7-2, but wins the tiebreakers to be the #2 seed against Gillette and Sheridan, which also finished 7-2. The Thunderbirds got a 28-14 road win over Gillette in the last game of the regular season.

The Thunderbirds enter the postseason on a roll, having won five in a row, including a 27-12 win over Kelly Walsh During the regular season.

Cheyenne Central, meanwhile, faces the always difficult challenge of a long road trip to Sheridan on Friday. Sheridan enters the postseason as the #4 seed, despite owning the same 7-2 record as number two and three seeds East and Gillette, by virtue of the postseason tiebreakers.

Central, at 4-5, is the number five seed in the postseason.

The third Cheyenne High School, Cheyenne South, missed the postseason this year, finishing 2-7 and missing out by having lost a game to #8 seed Evanston, which finished with the same record.

But the Bison also set a school record for wins in their brief history with 2, including their first ever victory over a cross-town rival (Central) in the second game of the season.
