The Boys State Track Meet endured cold and wet weather in Casper on Friday but the show must go on. No matter, what the weather was, Peter Visser of Star Valley brought his "A" game. On Thursday, he set the all-class record in the 3200 meters and followed that up with a win in the 800 on Friday in 1.56.34. He'll go for 3 wins on Saturday when he competes in the 1600 meters. In the 4A Boys relays, Kelly Walsh won the 4x100 and Jackson took the 4x800.

In the 4A field events, Cameron Burkett of Kelly Walsh, who ran the anchor leg in the winning 4x100 relay, also won the shot-put with a throw of 61-1. You don't see that combination in track & field very often. Star Valley's Gabe Klinger went 6-2 to win the high jump, Remar Pitter of Campbell County placed first in the long jump going 23 feet and a quarter inch. After a couple of days of competition, Sheridan leads the 4A boy's standings with 78.5 points. Star Valley is 2nd with 39 and Natrona is 3rd with 37.

In the 3A boys ranks, Lander, Lovell, and Mountain View have been battling it out. Lander won the 4x800 relay, Mountain View won the 4x100 plus the Buffs picked up 2 individual wins from Conner Micheli and Luke Branson. Micheli won the pole vault, clearing 14-6 and Branson took the podium in the triple jump. at 45-9, Lyman's Ezekial Newman ran 2.00.65 to capture the 800, and his teammate Joseph Turner won the discus with a toss of 175-10. In those team standings, Lander is sitting in first with 60 points, Lovell 2nd with 54, and Mountain View 3rd with 51.

Over in 2A Boys, Rocky Mountain has a big lead in the team standings with 71 points, followed by Tongue River with 36 and Sundance with 24. The Grizzlies added some points to their total thanks to a win in the pole vault from Zane Horrocks as he went 12 feet even and his teammate Kelden Boettcher had a leap of 41-9.75 to take the triple jump. The Grizz also won the 4x100 relay with Tongue River taking the 4x800. Jasper Caldera of Lusk wins the discus with a throw of 157-4.

Finally, in 1A boys, Meeteetse won the 4x100 meter relay and Cokeville won the 4x800. Cokeville senior Ethan Bird placed first in the 800 in 2.01.08 with Burlington's Gideon George clearing 6 feet even to win the high jump. His teammate Nathaniel Boreen won a state title in the pole vault at 12 feet even and Cooper Hill of Lingle-Fort Laramie went 20-10 to win the long jump.  In the team standings, Burlington is first with 64 points, Upton 2nd with 55.5, and Saratoga 3rd with 54.
