The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services has hired a new state occupational epidemiologist to analyze ways to lower the state's high workplace fatality rate. Wyoming Department of Workforce Services Director Joan Evans says they have hired Dr. Mack Sewell who previously worked as New Mexico's state epidemiologist.

Wyoming's 2010 workplace fatality rate was the second highest in the country at 12.9 per 100,000 full-time equivalent workers. Evans says Dr.  Sewell will begin his new job on July 9th.
