Wyoming Game and Fish Department Director Scott Talbott says the agency faces another round of budget cuts unless lawmakers increase its funding. Amy Richards reports. Doug Randall reports that Sen. The National Park Service is taking public comment on a plan to reconstruct the aging Isa Lake bridge at Craig Pass in Yellowstone National Park. Doug Randall reports. Wyoming Supreme Court Upholds Permits for Wind Farms [AUDIO]
The Wyoming Supreme Court has upheld permits issued by the state and Converse County allowing construction of two wind farms in the Laramie Range. Doug Randall reports. Consveration Stamp Art Contest Begins January 1st
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will begin accepting entries January 1, 2013 for the 2014 Wyoming conservation stamp art contest. Game and Fish spokesman Al Langston says each year the department selects a species to appear on more than 100,000 conservation stamps. This year's species is the Ruffed Grouse which is
Most Hunting and Fishing Licenes Due to Expire
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department reminds hunters and anglers that 2012 conservation stamps and most 2012 hunting and fishing licenses expire on Dec. 31st.
The lone exception is that 2012 elk licenses will be valid in open areas in January due to the fact that a number of elk seasons extend into January. This year, the game and fish will continue to sell 2012 elk licenses through the online system, at all automated agent locations, and at all game and fish offices through Jan. 2013 for hunt areas with open seasons. A 2013 conservation stamp will be required for all licenses beginning Jan. 1, 2013, including those hunting on a 2012 elk license during the extended seasons.
Wolf Hunt Area 6 Is Closed , Mortality Quota Reached
Hunters are alerted that Gray Wolf Hunt Area 6, the Jackson Management Unit in the Jackson area closed Oct. 20 at 2:30 pm. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department says the area closed because the mortality quota of three wolves was reached. Wolf seasons close in hunt areas where the species is classified as a trophy game animal when the mortality quota is reached or when the season closes on Dec. 31, whichever comes first.
Special Access Program to Hunt Elk on Iron Mountain
Elk hunters who hold licenses in hunt areas 5 and 6 in the Iron Mountain area between Cheyenne and Laramie may apply for a permit that will allow access to a large amount of private lands in each hunt area access is available to holders of license types 1, 4, and 6 for areas 5 and 6 as well as holders of unused general licenses.
