Due to current fire conditions and the anticipated elevated risk of wildfire, Stage 1 fire restrictions were put in place Thursday, July 5 on all National Forest System lands within the Sierra Madre Range and Snowy range on the Medicine Bow National Forest.
The Forest Service has opened Forest Road 700, or Vedauwoo Road on Pole Mountain in Medicine Bow National Forest for motorized travel and designated dispersed camping in time for the holiday weekend.
The Forest Service eased the restrictions because of the reduction in human-caused risk, increased fuel moisture, and favorable long-term fire weather forecasts.
