Cheyenne Police To Get Help During Cheyenne Frontier Days

Cheyenne Police Chief Brian Kozak says his agency will be getting help from other law enforcement agencies during this year's Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Kozak says his department has signed memorandums of understanding with the Casper Police Department, Laramie Police Department, Wyoming HIghway Patrol and the State Parks Department calling for those agencies to provide personnel specifically for DUI (Driving Under the Influence) enforcement during CFD 2013

Kozak Calls For Tougher DUI Laws

Cheyenne Police Chief Brian Kozak says Wyoming's current DUI laws are lax to the point of being "ridiculous".

The chief says one problem is the deferment  handed down to first time offenders. Kozak says that sentence allows "people to drive drunk until they get caught, and then it doesn't even count"

Cheyenne Police responded to the 600 Block of East Lincolnway Thursday evening at 8:50 pm on a report of a disturbance, according to Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Dan Long.

He says the initial report was that gunshots had been fired, but investigators have not found any evidence of that
