U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) introduced H.R. 3855: The Intelligence Budget Transparency Act. She was joined in introducing this bi-partisan bill by U.S. Representatives Peter Welch (D-VT), James Sensenbrenner (R-WI), David Price (D-NC), Jim Jordan (R-OH), and Luis Gutierrez (D-IL). This bill will require the top-line funding levels for all government funded intelligence agencies to be made public. This gives basic oversight of funding but does not inhibit or compromise America’s intelligence operations. Rep. Lummis also has a letter to President Obama urging him to submit the funding numbers for intelligence agencies in his annual budget for FY 2015.

The bill would apply to at least the following 16 agencies known to receive taxpayer funding for intelligence activities.

Air Force Intelligence
Army Intelligence
Central Intelligence Agency
Coast Guard Intelligence
Defense Intelligence Agency
Department of Energy
Department of Homeland Security
Department of State
Department of the Treasury
Drug Enforcement Administration
Federal Bureau of Investigation
Marine Corps Intelligence
National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency
National Reconnaissance Office
National Security Agency
Navy Intelligence
