Olweus Bullying Prevention Training Begins in LCSD #1

Laramie County School District Number One elementary and junior high staff will begin  Olweus Bullying Prevention training on May 25th. The Olweus program will be fully implemented in  district 1 in K-8th grade schools this fall. At the 9th-12th grade level, the Safe schools Ambassadors Bully Prevention Program has already been implemented.

Laramie County School District 1 Superintendent Mark Stock says the district continues to face a challenge in finding adequate space for district classes and programs. Stock says one common misconception is that such problems could be solved simply by moving all 6th grade classes into the district's Junior High Schools. Stock Says Bullying Discussion Good and Bad

Laramie County School District #1 Superintendent  Mark Stock says he thinks the extensive discussion and coverage of bullying issues this school year has had both positive and negative impacts. Stock says on the plus side bullying was something that needed to be discussed and dealt with, which he says the district has tried to do with a number of steps. He says those include implementation of training programs for teachers and an ombudsman program available to parents who have concerns about bullying issues.
